Baku - APA-Sport. The official opening ceremony of “The first Azerbaijan International Exhibition of Sport, Sports Equipment and Sportswear” and the Fourth Republic Exhibition of Youth Organisations organized by Iteca Caspian LLC , the partner of ITE Group PLC in Caucasus, was held at Baku Expo Center.
Apasport.az reports that Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, the deputy chief of the socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Tahir Suleymanov and the Executive Director of “ITE Group” company Edward Strachan made speeches at the event.
Azad Rahimov called 2012 year a great year for Azerbaijan sport society: “This year is declared “Sport Year” by the President of Azerbaijan. In 2012, for the first time U-17 Women's World Cup and Formula-3 race have been organized in our country. At the same time, our sportsmen performed successfully in London Summer Olympics and made our people happy. It proves that Azerbaijan is actually a sport country.
The minister noted that the sport exhibition will be held every year.
After the official opening, the guests were acquainted with the exhibition.
Note that, “The first Azerbaijan International Exhibition of Sport, Sports Equipment and Sportswear” and Fourth
Republic Exhibition of Youth Organisations will last 3 days. Federations on alpinism, shooting, boxing, taekwondo, gymnastics, golf, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, football, swimming, judo, sailing and other kinds of sports are represented at the exhibition. National Olympics and Paralympics stands have also been placed there.
