FM: Iran to reopen embassy in Somalia

Baku-APA. Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Tehran is ready to reopen its embassy in Somalia, APA reports quoting Press TV.

In a meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday, Salehi announced the reopening of the Iranian Embassy and the inauguration of a Red Crescent Society center in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

He went on to say Iranians send humanitarian aid to Somalia in accordance with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's remarks about supporting the Somali people.

Sheikh Mohamud, for his part, thanked Iran for sending aid to Somalia, saying that the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Mogadishu and the reopening of the Islamic Republic's Embassy in the Somali capital show that the two countries are eager to cooperate.

The Somali premier said establishing stability and security in the African state, and setting up different economic institutions are among the country's top priorities.
