Australia replies to Azerbaijan’s note of protest

Press service of the Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told APA that the government of Australia underlined in its note that its position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict was unchanged and didn’t recognize Nagorno Karabakh as an independent republic in accordance with the position of international community. The note underlines that Australia supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its position is unchanged. The government of Australia also hopes that the governments of Azerbaijan and Armenia will solve this problem through dialogues. The note also says that Australia supports peace negotiations conducted by the OSCE Minsk Group.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also says that Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov congratulated his Australian counterpart Bob Carr on the election of Australia as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2013-2014.
