Baku-APA. Vitali Klitschko defended his WBC heavyweight belt for the fourth time by knockout at tenth round against European champion Albert Sosnowksi at Veltins Arena, home of German Bundesliga football team Schalke 04, late Saturday, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.
The 38-year-old Ukrainian earned his 40th victory and his 38th knockout at his 42nd fight.
The around 40,000 spectators at Veltins Arena saw a one-sided affair with Klitschko dominating the battle against challenger Albert Sosnowski who gave everything. Klitschko demoralized Sosnowksi with his fast left jab to smooth the way for the knockout at the 10th round of the battle.
"I’m very happy that I defended my belt. I have to thank Albert for his battle, he is young but he gave everything he could," said Klitschko after the fight.
