Azerbaijani Men’s Chess Team wins over Armenia in a World Chess Cup

Among the participant countries there are winners of continental champion chess teams from Russia, Brazil, India and Egypt. Armenia, Israel and USA have gained licenses to the competition during the 2008 World Chess Cup, where they shared first three places. Turkey is a host country.

Azerbaijan and Greece have joined the Chess Cup after the invitation came from FIDE.

Our national Chess team includes Vugar Heshimov (2759), Teymur Recebov (2733), Shehriyar Memmedov (2741), Rauf Memmedov (2640), Qedir Huseynov (2614) and Nicat Memmedov (2610). As a result of drawing our country faced Armenian national chess team holding the victory.

Note that, our national chess team has lost the final two sets against Armenia. Our chess team members lost the Armenian national chess team in 2008 Chess Olympiad held in Germany, as well as in European Chess Cup in Serbia with the same results (1,5 : 2,5).

First set between the chess players finished by the 25 move. Heshimov playing with white figures was successful to bring score to our country.

Shehriyar Mammedov left no chance for his rival in the III board. This victory brought our team much more forward in the competition.

Recebov also finished his sets, playing draw with Akopyan. Mammedov had draw with Petrosyan at the IV board. However, our men’s chess team won the Armenia with the victory of Mammedyarov.
