Bruno Pouezat: UNHCR considers Azerbaijani journalists’ appeal for political asylum [ 12 Jun 2007 14:04 ] The report on the situation of press in Azerbaijan by Ambeyi Ligabo, UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression will be announced soon. UN Resident coordinator Bruno Pouezat told journalists, APA reports. “The special rapporteur came to Azerbaijan in May. He is working on the report on Azerbaijan’s media situation”. The resident coordinator said a group of journalists applied to the UN for political asylum. Their applications are being considered at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. /APA/ |
