ISESCO Director General: â€œIt is no coincidence that Azerbaijan was declared a Capital of the Islamic Cultureâ€

A delegation arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the opening events of the Cultural Year â€œBaku â€“ the Capital of the Islamic Culture 2009â€ on Wednesday visited the memorial of Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor. Then the guests laid a wreath before the Eternal Flame in the Alley of Martyrs, APA reports. ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, who arrived in Baku to attend the opening of the Cultural Year, told journalists that it is no coincidence that Azerbaijan was declared a Capital of the Islamic Culture. â€œIt is important that Baku was chosen for these events. Baku unites the civilizationsâ€.
The Director General called Baku a beautiful and historic city and said these events would create basis for the Azerbaijanâ€™s new achievements in the field of culture.
Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for the opportunities created for the events.
