Baku hosts international symposium dedicated to Ahmet Yasevi

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev –APA. Baku hosted the international symposium dedicated to well-known figure of Turkic world Ahmet Yasevi on Saturday. The symposium was held within the framework of “Khoja Ahmad Yasevi from the past until present” project prepared by Mahmood Kashgari Foundation, Youth Assistance Fund, Turkish University Alumni Public Union and Turkish Cooperation and Development Office. The participants emphasized that Ahmet Yasevi’s ideas were topical for the Turkic-Muslim world. They noted that Yasevi’s works were studied and published in a number of world countries, including Turkey and Kazakhstan and this event was organized in Baku to spread Yasevi’s ideas in Azerbaijan too.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Writers Union Anar, chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Associations writer-dramatist Hidayat Orujov, Turkey’s former minister of culture Namik Kemal Zeybek and other well-known figures spoke about the ideas of Ahmet Yasevi.

Zeybek said Yasevi united Islamic values with Turkic cultural values and made great contribution to the history of Turkic peoples. He said Yasevi knew Arabic and Persina languages, but used Turkic-Jigatay language in his works.

Ahmet Yasevi lived in 1093-1156 and all his works were collected in “Divani-Hikmet”.
