Turkish, Georgian presidents discuss upcoming NATO Summit

The presidents discussed political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, as well as the upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw, Georgia online (apsny.ge) news agency said.

President Erdogan once again expressed support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

Head of the Georgian Presidential Administration Giogri Abashishvili, who also attended the presidents’ meeting, informed about the issues discussed.

“At the meeting, Turkey’s president said that Georgia should become a member of NATO. The presidents also touched upon the important strategic projects the two countries are implementing together with Azerbaijan,” Abashishvili said.

In addition, Erdogan expressed hope that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project will be completed this year, the Georgian PA head said, adding that the prospects for future cooperation between Georgia and Turkey were mulled during the meeting as well.
