Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court on Tuesday considered the cassation appeals filed by Faraj Karimli, deputy chairman of the oppositional Musavat Party, and his brother Siraj Karimli.
The Supreme Court decided to reduce Faraj Karimli’s sentence to 3 years, while Siraj Karimli’s appeal was rejected.
Faraj and Siraj Karimli were detained on charges of drug trafficking in July 2014.
Faraj was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and his brother Siraj to 6 years.
Siraj Karimli was released under the pardon order signed by Azerbaijan’s president on March 17, 2016.
