World Humanitarian Summit kicks off in Turkey - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is also attending the ceremony. The world leaders posed a family photo at the ceremony.

The summit, organized by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, will bring together the leaders of countries and people affected by humanitarian crises on May 23-24. The summit will focus on the discussion of the ways to solve humanitarian problems.

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. The World Humanitarian Summit, the first United Nations conference in history, kicked off in Istanbul, Turkey on May 23.

The summit, organized by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, will bring together the leaders of countries and people affected by humanitarian crises on May 23-24.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva will also attend the summit.

The head of state and his spouse have already arrived in Turkey.
