During the meeting, the sides discussed the latest developments on the front line and the current situation. Minister Zakir Hasanov informed the guest about Armenia’s military provocations against Azerbaijan and use of heavy weapons as well as internationally prohibited munitions against Azerbaijan’s civilian population and facilities. He noted that the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan have been under occupation for more than two decades now, in the wake of which over a million Azerbaijanis have been forced out of their homes, and that the negotiations process failed to produce any visible result.

“Armenia’s aggressive policy is the biggest threat to the large-scale economic projects being implemented in the South Caucasus. The international community and institutions must step up their efforts in absolute terms to achieve a fair solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” said the minister.

The guest in her turn touched on the importance of settling the conflict by peaceful means, noting that Poland has always supported the territorial integrity of its friends and allies.

Thanking the Azerbaijani side for its contributions to peacekeeping missions and the professional carrying out of the mission in Afghanistan, Anna Fotyga also praised Azerbaijan’s active role in the fight against terrorism.

She mentioned Azerbaijan giving high importance to ensuring security and stability in the South Caucasus region, which is key to Europe’s provision with energy.
