Baku – APA. In connection with the increase in tensions at the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Chairman of the Junge Union of Germany, Paul Ziemak, and the Chairman of the International Commission of the Junge Union of Germany, Younes Ouaqasse made a joint statement, The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) told APA.
According to the statement:
“The violent outbreaks in the past few days have intensified a decade long struggle between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Once again, we call for a peaceful settlement of this conflict. Establishing stability in the South Caucasus region is in Germany’s interest.
To eliminate the conflict, the OSCE’s Minsk Group, which leads the negotiations and of which Germany is a member, will have to finally reach a unanimous solution, which brings peace to the region on the basis of International Law and the four Resolutions (882, 853, 874, 884) of the United Nations Security Council. Should the negotiations fail, there will be a threat of a new war in the Caucasus.”
For your information, we would like to note that a special document on the Armenian –Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was adopted at the annual conference of the “Junge Union” held in Berlin on October 5-7, 2012. In the document, the organization urged the government of GFR to strengthen its international efforts in cooperation with OSCE, the European Union and the United Nations to ensure the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan Republic, inviolability of its borders and to immediately ensure the safety of the population living in the border area.
