Potentially dangerous landslide areas discovered in Baku

It has been found that the amount of potentially hazardous landslide areas is eight times larger than the known cores in Baku, according to Alizade.

He said the most dangerous landslide zones are located in Garadagh and partially in Binagadi and Sabail districts, noting that Lokbatan and surrounding areas, especially Gurd Gapisi, Sulutepe and their surroundings, as well as Alat district are regarded as newly-discovered potentially dangerous landslide area.

According to the deputy director, dangerous areas other than those in Greater Baku and Baku city include Gurd Gapisi, Lake Ganli Gol and Lake Khojasan with their surrounding areas as well as mountain slopes near the Baku Amphitheatre and the Shikh beach.

“The latest rains have intensified landslide process in Baku. Landslide areas in Bayil Amphitheatre, Zigh massif, the Brick plant in Gunashli, and Masazir are active. Rocks in places where signs were posted have moved by 2 to 10mm or more,” he said.
