Azerbaijan publicizes 2015 crime statistics

Addressing the board meeting at General Prosecutor’s Office Feb. 5, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov said that as a result of joint effective investigative measures taken by the General Prosecutor’s Office with Ministry of Internal Affairs and operative bodies of State Security Service, 194 out of 203 crimes of deliberate murder recorded in 2015, as well as 71 crimes committed in secrecy, many of them especially grave crimes that resulted in two or more fatalities have been solved. The solution to these crimes made 95.5 percent. Compared to the reporting period of 2014, the total number of crimes of deliberate murder reduced by 16 units, and the number of unsolved crimes of this kind declined by 3 units.

As a result of joint investigative measures taken by the employees of General Prosecutor's Office's department of Investigation Control and district (city) prosecutor’s offices with operative bodies of relevant law enforcement agencies, numerous crimes of deliberate murder committed and remained unsolved in the previous years were solved, and some individuals who went missing last year were found to be deliberately murdered.
