Under Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s decree, dated 27 March 2014, the employee of the earlier liquidated National Security Ministry of Nakhchivan, Colonel Fariz Baghirov was awarded the medal “For motherland” for distinguished services in ensuring the national security of Azerbaijan, preventing intelligence-subversive acts of foreign intelligence services, fighting against international terrorism and transnational organized crimes, especially in conducting the investigation of grave crimes.
Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov decreed to create the State Security Service on the basis of the National Security Ministry of Nakhchivan.
Under Talibov’s decree, Fazil Alakbarov was dismissed from the post of Chief of the State Migration Service of Nakhchivan and appointed the chief of the State Security Service.
The position of the national security minister of Nakhchivan was earlier held by Major General Vali Alasgarov.
