This event will prove to the world that Islam is a religion of peace, brotherhood and mercy, said the minister.
The minister said that more than 5,000 athletes will compete in 20 sports.
Baku will successfully host the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017, he said, noting that “Azerbaijan has great experience in organizing such events.”
Islamic Solidarity Games will include Olympic and non-Olympic games, Rahimov added. “The Games will demonstrate not only the sport potential of Islamic countries, but also Islamic culture to the world.”
