The statement says that CMO strongly condemned the incident committed by a group of provocateurs in order to undermine the socio-political stability, based on legal, democratic state.

The Caucasian Muslims Office said it strongly rejects the attempts to link the developments that took place in Nardaran with religion: “We regard these developments as an attempt to sow division in society and violently seize power, organized by external and internal forces with certain political goals,” the CMO said in a statement.

"A group of provocateurs, who call themselves believers are unfamiliar in the Nardaran and have no relation with the faithful villagers. We are confident that the people of Nardaran opposes the events. The so-called "Muslim Union" established by Taleh Bagirzade and his patrons, has no relation with the faithful, it is not recognized by the CMO as a religious structure, it has no authority to carry out religious propaganda", the statement said.
