Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Deputy chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine’s Kherson province, businessman Ilham Taghiyev and another diaspora activist Tabriz Alakbarov, who went missing some time ago, are both reported to have been killed by Armenians.

The murderers have been detained by police. The detainees are also suspected of torturing to death Vuqar Nurushov, another Azerbaijani businessman.

Ilqar Nurushov, Vuqar’s brother who is a member of the provincial Azerbaijanis Congress, said in his statement to APA the detainees include Karapetyan Sergei Razmikovich (1974) and Ukrainian citizen Montiyan Khachik Stepanovich.

According to Nurushov, Kherson police is still in search of a few other Armenians over the crime.

“Police said the detained Armenians have admitted to killing Ilham Taghiyev on an order but have not given the orderer’s name. They claim that the killing took place in a personal quarrel. But they are lying to us. Everyone in Kherson knows that there was ethnic hostility between my brother and Lugasyan, an Armenian businessman who is a retired general, and he had threatened my brother. These detained Armenians are connected with that Armenian businessman. They did not cover up their connection during investigation, either,” said Ilgar Nurushov, adding that the two detainees are Armenian diaspora activists in Ukraine.

Note that, Ilham Taghiyev was beaten to death outside his house on August 17. Prior to the incident, another Azerbaijani businessman, Vuqar Nurushov, had tortured to death. His body was unrecognizable.

Alakbar Tabriz Jasur oglu (1986), an Azerbaijani from Masalli district who had left Lugansk for Kherson to continue his business and diaspora activity there, went missing in Kherson’s Skadovsk region on July 13. He was found dead later.
