US Vice-President Joe Biden has signed a decree in this regard, and this decision is a diplomatic breakthrough for Ukraine, said Poroshenko.
Poroshenko said that he met several times with US President Barack Obama as par of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
“Before his meeting with Putin, Obama met with me and we coordinated the basic approaches. Following the meeting, as well as my talks with Biden, I met again with Obama. Biden told me that he signed a decree on providing Ukraine with examples of modern weapons, which we need most. These defense systems will significantly increase Ukrainian army’s opportunities for effective defense. Of course, this is a significant diplomatic breakthrough for Ukraine”, Poroshenko said.
The military systems that the US is going to supply to Ukraine allow remotely determining and striking the exact coordinates of enemy’s heavy artillery and reactive fire systems.
