Azerbaijan celebrates Eid al-Adha

This year Eid al-Adha is celebrated on September 24-25.

Eid prayer will be performed in Tezepir mosque at 9:00AM on September 24.

Eid al-Adha or the religious holiday of sacrificing is one of the most sacred holidays in the Islamic world. In the lunar-based Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and lasts for three days. Muslims can sacrifice a sheep, ram, cow, or camel in the ceremony.

Eid al-Adha, one of the most sacred holidays in the Islamic world, is celebrated by all Muslim countries in high spirits. After Azerbaijan gained independence, according to the law on holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted by the Milli Mejlis (parliament) on 27 October 1992, Eid al-Adha is celebrated in Azerbaijan at the level of state.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, September 24 and 25 were declared non-working days in Azerbaijan.

There will be four consecutive non-workings days in the country as September 24 falls on Thursday, September 25 on Friday and September 26-27 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
