Baku-APA. Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri arrived in Tehran on Friday evening to pay an official visit to Iran, APA reports quoting IRNA.
Al-Jabouri arrived here at the head of a high-ranking parliamentary delegation.
The Iraqi parliament speaker's visit to Tehran takes place at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani. Al-Jabouri is expected to meet with Larijani on Saturday.
Iraqi sources said that Al-Jabouri will discuss supporting the national reconciliation plan in Iraq and fighting the Takfiri terrorists in the neighboring Arab country.
Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in the wake of the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.
Last Sunday, Iraqi Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran, appreciated Iran for supporting his government and nation in their fight against terrorism and extremism.
Zebari expressed satisfaction in the broadening of the relations between Tehran and Baghdad, and hoped for further mutual cooperation in the future.
