Several houses, schools and kindergartens damaged after strong earthquake in Azerbaijan’s Sheki

A working group of the Sheki emergency situations commission, based on the requests of local residents, inspected the houses in some residential settlements located near the epicenter, Ziya Valiyev, the assistant to the head of Sheki district executive authority, told APA on Sept.5.

During the preliminary inspection cracks were found in the walls of 250 houses in Turan settlement, and the villages of Chaygaragoyunlu, Garatorpaq, Bolludere, etc. Several schools, kindergartens, social facilities and houses were damaged in the district.

The ministry’s experts will continue inspections and define measures necessary to be taken.

Etibar Yusifov, the chairman of Oghuz district emergency situations commission, told APA that according to initial information, several old buildings in the district’s villages of Padar, Mukhas, Garabulaq and Kerimli cracked as a result of the strong earthquake.

The walls of some houses collapsed slightly, Yusifov said, adding, the ministry experts are currently carrying out inspections in these areas.
