Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The Nasimi district court resumed on Friday the trial to consider a motion filed by an investigative agency on extension of the prison term of journalist Rauf Mirgadirov.

Lawyer Elmar Suleymanov told APA that an appeal of protest they have made against judge Shalala Hasanova who led Mirgadirov’s case was sustained and the case was considered by judge Azer Pashayev.

Suleymanov also said the court passed a decision to extend Mirgadirov’s prison term until November 16.

Mirgadirov was detained last year on April 19 in Turkey and handed over to Azerbaijan, where he was charged with treason (Article 274). He was sentenced to three months’ pretrial detention. The term of his pretrial detention has been extended for several times since. His term of imprisonment was last extended for four months by the Nasimi district court on May 6 of this year.
