Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said the reports on 60 members of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) having visited the occupied territories in late August are nothing but another lie made up by Armenia, Azerbaijani foreign ministry spokesperson Hikmat Hajiyev told APA on Sept.4.

A letter sent by EYP Executive Director Krista Simberg and member of the Governing Body Jari Marjelund to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and the Azerbaijani embassy in Germany, stresses that the visit made to the occupied territories in late August 2015 had not been initiated by the EYP, said Hajiyev.

The letter also notes that the EYP’s name cannot be misused over this visit, expressing regret that the organization’s name is mentioned over the visit, said the spokesperson.

According to the letter, the EYP’s representation in Armenia has stated that outside powers will not be allowed to abuse the name of the parliament, Hajiyev noted.

“As for the 60 persons who were took part in the visit, many of them are Armenian citizens. And the several persons introduced as foreigners have been exposed to be Armenian diaspora members. Instead of deceiving the international community with this kind of ridiculous steps, the Armenian side must give up on its occupation policy and take concrete steps towards the settlement of the conflict,” Hajiyev completed.
