IOM chief meets with Azerbaijani IDPs

Baku – APA. On Sept.3, William Lacy Swing, Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), visited the town built for 760 IDP families in Masazir settlement of Absheron district, the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs told APA.

The IOM chief got acquainted with the living conditions of IDPs settled there.

The guest was informed that modern towns with high social and technical infrastructure were built for refugees and IPDs in Baku and the surrounding area, as well as in different districts of the country, and the living conditions of 240,000 refugees and IPDs who formerly lived in more severe conditions were improved. It was noted that 760 IDP families temporarily housed there and after the liberation of the occupied territories they will return to their homes.

Then the IOM chief met with IDPs settled in the dormitory of Azerbaijan Technical University in Baku’s Yasaml district, familiarizing himself with their harsh living conditions.
