Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The Nasimi district court on Thursday held a hearing on the extension of journalist Rauf Mirgadirov’s term of imprisonment.
Attorney Elmar Suleymanov told APA that they have raised objection against judge Shelale Hasanova who was considering the case.
“We objected to the judge because Shelale Hasanova had already considered the case before this one. The hearing was postponed till tomorrow to consider our objection,” he said.
Elmar Suleymanov said Rauf Mirgadirov too has been brought to the court hall.
Note that, Mirgadirov was detained last year on April 19 in Turkey and handed over to Azerbaijan, where he was charged with treason (Article 274). He was sentenced to three months’ pretrial detention. The term of his pretrial detention has been extended for several times since. His term of imprisonment was last extended for four months by the Nasimi district court on May 6 of this year.
