"We are pleased with the adoption of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and expect that the plan, as provided by the UN Security Council-approved resolution, will come into force in the coming weeks," Lavrov said at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif.

Iran and a group of six world powers – including Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany – reached an agreement of Tehran’s nuclear program on July 14. Iran agreed to never develop or acquire nuclear weapons.

The agreement on Tehran’s nuclear activities should come into force 90 days after it is confirmed by the UN Security Council.

On July 20, the Council endorsed the JCPOA, requesting that the International Atomic Energy Agency verify and monitor Iran’s compliance with the provisions of the deal.

The Russian foreign policy chief confirmed his working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"We hold regular foreign ministerial meetings. [Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif] confirmed the invitation to visit Tehran, which I am pleased to take advantage of within the agreed timeline," he told reporters.
