Witnesses testify in court hearing on Khadija Ismayilova’s case

APA reports that the petition on termination of Tural Mustafayev’s status as aggrieved person was considered at the hearing presided over by judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva. Court rejected the petition. The judge said that the petition can’t be sustained at this stage, as all evidences should be investigated.

Then, testimonies of the witnesses were heard. Tural Mustafayev’s father Bulud Mustafayev also gave a testimony.

He said that he saw Khadija Ismayilova for the first time. Mustafayev said that his son doesn’t suffer from any mental illness. However, after starting to work in Baku, once he said that he was tired of. He said that Rovshana Rahimova left his son due to Khadija Ismayilova.

Later on, Tural Mustafayev’s ex-wife Shafa Rasulova gave testimony, saying she confirmed the testimony she had given to preliminary investigation. Rasulova said she had divorced from her ex-husband because of Rovshana Rahimova in May 2014.

Asked by the judge whether she was under pressure during preliminary investigation, Rasulova said, “No”.

Matanat Abdinova, a chambermaid at RFE/RL's Baku Bureau, and the radip’s former associate Gulnaz Guliyeva also gave evidence.

Later on, journalist Shahvalad Chobanoglu gave evidence as a witness. He said he had not been interrogated over Khadija Ismayilova’s case during investigation, noting that he had only been questioned regarding RFE/RL in December 2014.

Sh. Chobanoglu said that he founded a magazine “Different Way of Thinking”, and under the contract signed between the publication and the Libverty Raido, the information broadcasted in the radio were published in the magazine too. He mentioned that the magazine also published some advertisements related to the radio and instead got funds transferred to his bank account.

Journalist Chingiz Sultansoy testiofied that he worked as a contractual employee in the Liberty Radio since May, 2010, dealt with editing, translation works and paid taxes for the work.

The hearing will continue on August 11.
