Aghsu. Elvin Yagubov – APA. An enormous fire which began on Sunday around 2:00PM in the mountainous village of Bijo, Aghsu district, has subsequently engulfed more territory, APA’s local bureau reported.
Firefighter teams and vehicles from the Aghsu, Ismayilli, Goychay, Kurdemir and Shamakhy districts were sent to the site to extinguish the fire which had broken out in an area belonging to the rural municipality. Because the fire occurred in a mountainous area covered with bushes, it turned out to be quite challenging for the firefighters to tackle the fire, which was finally put out around 8:00AM Monday morning and prevented from making its way into the nearby cemetery, living houses, and forest.
Trees, cropped grain fields and bushes in a mountainous area of 105ha have burned to the ground. There were no injuries in the blaze. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire.
