Head of Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group, leader of “Israel is Our House” party, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Avigdor Lieberman, hailing Azerbaijan’s geographical position and economic potential, stressed the importance of the development of bilateral relations for Israel, said Israel-Azerbaijan International Association (AZIZ).
The high level of trade relations between the two countries and the importance of further development of these relations were mentioned at the meeting.
Director of the Eurasia and Caucasus Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Oded Joseph spoke about the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries and development of joint cultural projects. He proposed the mutual visits between the parliamentary delegations to be continued.
Director General of AZIZ Lev Spivak said that the attempts to discuss the "Armenian genocide" in the Knesset cause great concern in Azerbaijan. He asked Knesset members to refrain from making statements on this issue as much as possible. Supporting this request of Spivak, Knesset political advisor Oded Ben Hur proposed not to use the word "genocide" while talking about this issue in the future.
