Sergei Lebedev: European Games was phenomenal and colorful sports festival

Moscow. Farid Akbarov - APA. It will be hard to organize the European Games for next host countries, because Azerbaijan has demonsrated a very high standard, Russian Federation Council member, Board Chairman of TASS Agency, Vitaly Ignatenko told APA’s Moscow correspondent.

The Russian official said the first European Games was organized at a very high level in Baku, and the Azerbaijani leadership’s long-term care and attention to the sport bore fruit.

“Azerbaijan has hosted several international events. We can talk about the recent events for days. The opening and closing ceremonies of the European Games, and the competitions were organized perfectly. What country will organize the European Games more beautiful?!”, said Vitaly Ignatenko.

Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev told APA that the first European Games held in Baku were a phenomenal and very colorful sports festival. He noted that this prestigious event in Baku has become a historic event not only in Europe's sports life but also in the world sport.

Leonid Slutsky, the head of the Russian State Duma's committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, said the first European Games held by Azerbaijan was incredibly beautiful and spectacular: “European Games are a new of the Olympic movement. Azerbaijan demonstrated its capability to the world through these games.”
