Huseynov suffered for years from diabetes and related diseases, Zeynalov said.
Iftikhar Gurbanov, the head of the main medical department of the justice ministry, told APA that Huseynov died of the disease.
Note that, Huseynov was the head of the Samukh District Executive Authority in 1993-94s. He was charged over involvement in the revolt in Ganja in 1993 and murder of the district prosecutor Shamsir Aliyev.
Huseynov’s son and two other persons were also arrested with the similar charges.
The court sentenced V.Huseynov to death in 1996. However, later the sentence was replaced by life imprisonment.
