Putin awards Allahshukur Pashazade Certificate of Merit

Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin has today presented the Certificate of Merit to Pashazade at an event held in the Caucasian Muslim Office.

The ambassador said that Sheikhulislam was awarded for his merits in promoting interfaith dialogue and socio-cultural relations.

It was noted that Pashazade had been previously awarded Russian orders of Friendship and Glory, “The Great Prince Vladimir” first degree order of the Russian Orthodox church, “Holy Sergei Radonejevski” first degree order, and the order of Glory and Honor.

Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolai Paskevich and Chairman of the State Committee for Works with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan Mubariz Gurbanli also attended the event.

Pashazade said that his life is related to Russia.

“We lived together in the former Soviet Union. Today, there are strong relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, and we're playing an active role in this,” he added.

The CMO chairman said Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attitude toward him is at the highest level. “Putin has high confidence in me. He repeatedly said it in our meetings. I have always tried to be committed to this confidence”.

Pashazade said that Azerbaijan and Russia have strong friendly relations during the rule of Heydar Aliyev and now is also at the high level thanks to President Ilham Aliyev.
