Elmar Mammadyarov: “Azerbaijan regards the relations with the EU through the prism of bilateral relations”

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov - APA. Azerbaijan intends to establish the relationship with the European Union on bilateral basis and is doing that.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov made the remarks at the General Assembly and 14th Board meeting of the International Fund for Cooperation and Partnership of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea in Baku.

The Minister also touched on the difference between the former Soviet Union countries and the EU. “Those countries chose the format of cooperation with the European Union in various fields. Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine made a decision to cooperate with the European Union within the framework of the Association Agreement. Belarus and Armenia chose Eurasian Economic Union, whose driving force is Russia. Howverr, Azerbaijan regards the relations with the EU through the prism of bilateral relations. Besides, Azerbaijan has a close relationship with all EU members.

I submitted the draft agreement on partnership to the leadership of Riga summit. It includes equal and mutually beneficial cooperation” said the Minister.
