Baku-APA. The European Union is ready to assist the Eastern Partnership countries, which are not included in the World Trade Organization (WTO), to join the WTO, Foreign Minister of Latvia and president of the EU Council, Edgar Rinkevich said, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

"We are working on the application of the Riga Summit (21-22 May - Ed.). As part of this process, we can prepare and work on a new agreement with Armenia, of course, given this country's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union," - he said after meeting with Trade Ministers of the EU and Eastern Partnership countries.

"We also want to work with our partners from Azerbaijan, Belarus and Armenia to establish the level of cooperation that would meet the common interests. We are also ready to support those countries that are not yet members of the WTO, on their way to the WTO. This is what we offer, when we meet with our partners", - said the minister.

He also expressed hope that the EU will be able to resume work with Azerbaijan on new cooperation framework, which could include economic partnership and cooperation in the field of free trade.

Eastern neighbors of the EU are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Among them, Azerbaijan and Belarus are not members of the WTO.
