Railway line to connect Iraq and Azerbaijan to be constructed

Baku. Vusal Nabiyev - APA-Economics. Iran and Iraq are implementing $45 mln-railway project, Iraqi Minister of Transport Baqir Jabr al-Zubeidi said after meeting with Iranian counterpart, APA-Economics reports quoting RIA Novosti.

“We agreed on construction of 32 km-railway line, which will connect south and north. Moreover, we’ll commence construction of railway bridge in the length of 700 m from Basra's Sinbad Island to Shatt-al-Arab river”, the Minister said.

According to him, this project will connect Iraq with other countries, including China and Azerbaijan via Great Silk Road.

The project will be completed after 20 months.
