‘Court verdict’ on Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev lacks legal basis – State Commission

This was stated during the meeting of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, APA reports.

It was noted that Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev were taken hostage by Armenian armed units on their way to the territory of Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar District, which had been occupied by Armenia, to visit the graves of their close ones on July 2014, while Hasan Hasanov was murdered.

“Since the incident took place, Armenia has demonstrated an inhumane attitude toward this matter, releasing plenty of irrelevant information. With a constant attention to the hostages, Azerbaijan raised timely and principal demands at various international organizations. But despite all these efforts, it was not possible to bring back the hostages because of the destructive position Armenia stuck to. Moreover, the handover process of Hasan Hasanov’s body was delayed for three month. The illegal regime created in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh played a show. Undoubtedly, any judgment passed by either the aggressive regime, which is not recognized by any state or international organization and is not a subject of international law, or its court on Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev lacks a legal basis, and their action is unacceptable”.
