Baku-APA. The European Union said on Wednesday the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas should be kept on EU's terrorist list and will consider eventual appeal after the General Court of the EU annulling restrictive measures against Hamas, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"We respect the General Court of the European Union's judgement delivered today annulling measures against Hamas," the EU's External Action Service said in a statement.

"This legal ruling is clearly based on procedural grounds and it does not imply any assessment by the Court of the substantive reasons for the designation of Hamas as a terrorist organisation," it said.

It added that the EU institutions will decide on the options open to them and will take appropriate remedial action, including "any eventual appeal to the ruling" to make sure "the restrictive measures remain in place".

On the same day earlier, the General court of the EU ruled the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas should be removed from the EU's terrorist list, saying the measures to include it was based not on confirmed acts but "derived from the press and internet".

But the court also said the restrictive measures including freezing Hamas' funds should be temporarily maintained for three months to give time for future review or possible appeals.
