French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier told APA regarding the co-chairs’ visits to the region and secrecy of information concerning some issues.

The ambassador said the co-chairs work very diligently, sparing no efforts to restore dialogue between the sides and speed up negotiations.

“I keep up to date on the process of negotiations and obtain continuous information on the latest about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But I’m not entitled over peace negotiations. I don’t know about the co-chairs’ plans and why they are so careful. I’m not sure when their next visit to the region is going to take place, either. All I can say is that relations between the co-chairs are at a very good level. They are regularly keeping in touch with the Azerbaijani and Armenian governments. The maintenance of dialogue in the settlement of the conflict is of great importance. If we undermine this dialogue, we will lose all the advancements we have gained so far. Nevertheless, I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to rebuild dialogue and continuous contact in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a result of efforts by the co-chairs and the sides,” said Pascal Meunier.

The ambassador also commented on Pierre Andrieu’s reluctance to speak too much to the press, stressing that Pierre Andrieu is very active in talks and that he is mostly involved in making joint statements: “I encourage him to work closely with media”.
