Toghrul Narimanbeyov’s painting sold for £68,500

Baku. Javid Zeynalli – APA. Renowned Azerbaijani artist Toghrul Narimanbeyov’s painting named “Big Ram” (1982) has been sold for £68,500 ($107,400) at the British auction house “Sotheby’s”.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA that the curator for Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia at the auction house is Suad Garayev, who has played a key role in the realization of the project.

Toghrul Narimanbeyov was born in Baku in 1930. He then graduated from the Azerbaijan Art School named after Azim Azimzade (1950) and Vilnius Art Institute in Lithuania (1955). His works which he painted in the genres of portrait, landscape, household and still life are displayed the world’s exhibition halls, art galleries, and art museums, and kept in the museums of a variety of countries and the collections of different individuals.

Toghrul Narimanbeyov died on 2 June 2013 in Paris.
