Poland’s state election commission published the results on last week’s elections on Saturday following days of delay caused by a computer malfunction that triggered political anger.

Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz had admitted to her party’s defeat based on exit polls.

According to the results Civic Platform party gained 179 seats on local assemblies and the Law and Justice party gained 169 seats. Civic Platform's junior coalition party, the Polish People's Party, won 159.

On November 21, Kopacz said the local elections will not be repeated despite political turmoil resulting from a computer malfunction that caused results to be delayed by days.

Kopacz also said that the electoral commission had failed at its job but that did not mean the elections were a setup.

On Thursday, dozens of protesters attacked the headquarters of Poland’s top electoral authority in a show of protest against discrepancies in the recent local elections and to demand the polls be held again.

Kazimierz Czaplicki, the head of the National Electoral Office, resigned over the vote count delays. He is to officially step down on December 1, following runoff votes in some mayoral races.

The Law and Justice party has complained about the high number of votes being declared invalid, claiming irregularities in the voting and counting processes.
