UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Irfan Siddiq said while addressing the international conference on the promotion of religious tolerance (Azerbaijani model, challenges across the OSCE area and beyond), jointly organized by the OSCE Project Coordinator's Office in Baku, the Azerbaijani Government, the Caucasian Muslims Office and the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO, APA reports.
According to him, the UK has used diversity in order to form an example of a strong community.
“In London there are mosques, synagogues, churches which allow people to perceive the world well. There is a need for an open dialogue on this subject. Promotion of religious tolerance is a part of the fight. We need to understand the opposite side, respect them, and fight against interreligious sectarianism,” the ambassador added.
