Azerbaijani President: "Until 2018, main infrastructure and social issues to find solutions in our country"

Baku-APA. “First State program of socio-economic development of regions was adopted in 2004. Currently, a third program is implementing. Until 2018 as a result of the third program main infrastructure and social issues will find the solution in our country”, - President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening ceremony of Shamkirchay water reservoir and a hydroelectric power station on November 15, APA reports.

According to the President, the development of agriculture, entrepreneurship is the priority: "We must fully ensure our food security. In this direction are taken very important steps. We are already approaching this goal, 100 percent ensure our self with foods. Complete food security, increase export capacity will serve in the future as the creation of jobs and improve the welfare of the people."

President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is now trying to expand into new export markets: "There are new opportunities that we need to use effectively. Of course, we should bring agricultural products in accordance with the possibilities as potential export markets now and in the future. All work is carried out systematically. First, domestic demand should be 100 percent secured by domestic production. Parallel to this, we need to expand into new and traditional markets with even greater volume of production. Thus, in the years to the development of agriculture will be dynamic, in the regions will be opened jobs, unemployment is constantly at a very low level. As a result of measures taken and in particular the implementation of government programs for socio-economic development of unemployment in Azerbaijan is today at the 5 percent level. Over the past 10 years were opened 1.3 million new jobs, which in itself creates a good opportunity for our country. "

The Head of State noted that the focus is on the development of entrepreneurship: "I believe that entrepreneurs will take advantage of these great opportunities. Today we celebrated the opening of hydroelectric power in parallel. This is also a great project. Azerbaijan fully ensured its energy security, and takes an active part today, plays a major role in ensuring the energy security of other countries. This role will gradually increase, but at the same time, we should try to improve our energy capacity, including through renewable energy. In this direction also is doing a great job. Is built hydroelectric. Already under construction, though small, the solar power. But the priority of renewable forms of energy, of course, is hydropower."

Noting that Azerbaijan has provided energy and transport security, Ilham Aliyev stressed that the East-West and North-South pass through Azerbaijan.

Noting implementing large infrastructure projects the President paid attention on a new sea trading port: "Its first stage has already started work. New ships are brought. In railways and air transport are invested. Construction of new airports, purchased the most modern ships, new itineraries. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars. This is also a historic project that is already being implemented, a few left to its completion. That is, this is the transport infrastructure."

"Our geographical position is so that we should become a transportation hub, not only in the region but also globally. Recently, important decisions were made on the implementation of the transport corridor North-South and the revival of the ancient Silk Road East-West. Apart from these, our main issues are the food, energy and transport security. Addressing these issues will also give a big boost to regional cooperation", Ilham Aliyev said.

According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan plays a leading role in regional cooperation, "Here, of course, dominated by transport, energy and gas projects, and all of these issues ultimately serve to strengthen regional security. I want to say once again that Azerbaijan shows state support to this entire works. All of these projects are implemented in a planned way”.

The Head of State said that only when the right term strategy is defined then can achieve excellent results: "Because these ambitious infrastructure projects take a long time. Therefore, in 2005 the Order was signed, in 2009 work began, and in 2014 we have already noted the completion of this project. It is through the centuries will benefit Azerbaijan, strengthen our economic potential. Of course, the construction of water channels should continue. Currently under construction will cover the new channels in the land I have mentioned amount. But there is a new, future plan, and we can further increase the amount of irrigated land. The construction of the channels can be irrigated additional land area of nearly 20, maybe 30 thousand hectares. This project covers four districts: Shamkir, Goygol, Samukh and Goranboy. As a result of this project, the development of agriculture in these areas, of course, will go even faster. I want to mention one more thing: at the same time as a result of this project people will also use drinking water. Drinking water will be filed in the city of Ganja and Shamkir, as well as in several localities Samukh. It's clean drinking water, quality, natural, and this project is also part of a large Shamkirchay complex."
