Prior to the elections, the Azerbaijani delegation held several meetings in Washington and was thoroughly informed about the US election legislation, election process as well as new vote-counting technologies. Professor of the Catholic University of America, Doctor of Sciences James Kwerk said early voting and voting via mail are possible in the US states: “The voting process can change from state to state. Early voting is possible prior to the election day. And the commencement date for early voting is determined by the state’s legislative authority. It can be a few days before the election day, depending on the state.

Speaking about voting technologies, IFES Senior Program Manager for the Caucasus and Central Asia Anthony Bowyer said that ballot papers were replaced with computer voting in some states.

Following meetings held in Washington, the Azerbaijani delegation left for Omaha city in the state of Nebraska to observe the elections.

APA’s correspondent Anakhanum Hidayatgizi is also among the delegation members.
