The company had mistakenly shown Azerbaijan’s occupied territories in the Armenia section of the website’s ATM Locator. Now searching for Armenia via ATM locator doesn’t find the cities of Stepanakert (Khankandi), Shushi (Shusha), etc. any more, APA-Economics reports.
However, the company’s official website does not mention whether MasterCard has terminated its service in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories or not. So it’s still unclear if MasterCard continues to operate in occupied Azerbaijani territories without Baku’s permission.
Note that, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry commented on the issue that MasterCard operating in occupied Azerbaijani territories is blatant violation of international legal norms.
Furthermore, U.S. Azeris Network (USAN) has called on everyone to raise their objection against MasterCard presenting Azerbaijan’s occupied lands as part of Armenia on its official website.
