Chief of the Sun and solar-terrestrial relationship Department of Shamakhi-based Tusi Astrophysical Observatory Namig Jalilov told APA that four powerful solar flares occurred on October 25-27. The flare occurred on October 25 caused a strong magnetic storm on Earth yesterday. The flares recorded in the past two days were not Earth-directed.

“On October 25 two flares were recorded. X1 flare – the strongest one began at 01:07 am and ended at 01:41 am. This storm caused magnetic storms on Earth on October 28. X1 flare began at 20:55 pm and was over by 21:08 pm. On October 26, X2 flare began at 14:04 pm and ended at 14:46 pm,” he noted.

Jalilov said that no significant coronal mass ejections were observed.

He said that another solar flare was recorded on October 27. X2 flare began at 18:02 pm and was over by 18:47 pm: “Any effects of this flare will be felt tomorrow. However, it is unlikely as the flare is not Earth-directed.”
