Baku. Rufat Ahmadzadeh – APA. “Switzerland highly appreciates the interest of Azerbaijan in joining European organizations and cooperation in human rights sphere”, President of Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland Markus Metz told APA.
He noted it’s positive that the representatives of countries which have joined European Convention for Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and are members of the Council of Europe gathered in Baku and held discussions on judicial system: “There are countries which newly joined the Council of Europe and Convention. They need a time to meet the requirements of the convention. Consultations and discussions play an important role here. We highly appreciate holding of one of such discussions in Azerbaijan and its interest in cooperation with European organizations. However, we’d like Azerbaijan to increase its efforts in this direction. Switzerland attaches great importance to regional democratization and peaceful cooperation”.
Markus Metz commented on the issue on declaration of Europeans joining ISIL wanted and judging some of them: “We did not face such case regarding Swizz citizens. However, our relation to terror is known. We support stability and peace in the world”.
Answering question about Azerbaijanis Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev taken hostage in their own country and holding of a trial of them, Metz said that he has not detailed information about this issue: “However, I think that this issue should base on the international law”.
