List of countries from where useless medicines illegally imported to Azerbaijan publicized

Official of the Health Ministry’s Center for Analytic Examination of Medicines Parviz Azizbayov told APA that useless medicines are mostly imported to Azerbaijan from various countries, such as Turkey, Russia, Poland and Romania.

“Various medicines are firstly tested and registration processes are conducted for being imported to Azerbaijan then their boxes and instruction languages are approved. Useless medicines are mostly imported to Azerbaijan from Turkey, Russia and some European countries such as Poland and Romania. Such medicines are produced for these countries’ domestic markets and not registered by state in Azerbaijan. And these medicines are sold without registration for Azerbaijani market. If such cases are found, they are removed from sale” Azizbayov said.

The official mentioned that the medicines not registered by state and without the protocol of analysis are considered useless. Clarifying the issue regarding the medicines imported from India, Azizbayov said that 4 percent of medicines in the market are the products of India. “These medicines are manufactured in accordance with the WHO standards”, he added.
