Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “No one in Azerbaijan is against funeral repast”, said Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh during today’s event dedicated to the month of Muharram, APA reports.
He said the word “Ihsan” (funeral repast) is mentioned in several verses of the Quran.
“However, some people misunderstand it. To our people’s mentality, for example, some Azerbaijanis question themselves why others give funeral repast but they can’t. So they decide to cut down on their children’s foodstuff for funeral repast. They offer Ihsan not for Allah, but Satan. Allah says to offer Ihsan if you can. Otherwise not”, he said.
The CMB chairman also said Ihsan at funeral ceremonies must not excessive.
“In Islam, Ihsan over the amount that is enough to satisfy one person is considered to be a waste,” he added.
